Kim is the Chief Investment Officer at Washington University Investment Management Company (WUIMC) and oversees the investment of the endowment and other assets which total over $7 billion. Her responsibilities include developing the endowment’s overall investment philosophy, establishing a strategic asset policy and selecting and managing outside investment managers. Kim joined WUIMC in 2006 after serving as President of Qwest Asset Management Company where she managed Qwest’s pension and other employee benefit assets. Prior to that position, Kim spent 13 years in various finance positions at General Motors, the last eight as an employee of GM’s New York-based investment management subsidiary, GMIMCo.
Kim is a board member of The Managed Funds Association and a director for Commerce Bancshares, Inc. She also serves on the board of the St. Louis Symphony endowment trust. Prior volunteer roles include serving as: Chair of the Committee on Investment of Employee Benefit Assets (CIEBA) and board member of its parent organization, the Association of Financial Professionals; member of the New York Stock Exchange Pension Managers’ Advisory Committee; a member of the University of Colorado Investment Advisory Committee; and Chair of the Miami University Foundation Board. Kim earned a bachelor’s degree in economics and public administration from Miami University, a master’s degree in economics from Washington University in St. Louis, and a master’s degree in business administration from The University of Michigan. Kim holds the Chartered Financial Analyst designation.
